I am experienced. Do I really need to start at the beginning?

This is a common question among seasoned meditators! People wonder if they will be going backwards in some way by starting at the beginning. The answer is an emphatic NO.

The best analogy I can think of is the martial arts.

Imagine you are a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. You’ve spent years and years learning and honing your skills. But then, you want to expand your horizons and try a different martial art, Kung Fu.

The basic principle and philosophy are similar but there are also important differences. If you’re going to learn Kung Fu, you don’t jump in at the black belt level. You start at the beginning. You work your mind and body in a different way with Kung Fu so you have to start as a beginner, no matter how much of an expert you are at Tae Kwon Do.

The two styles complement each other and ultimately you have a much richer knowledge of yourself and far, far greater self-mastery than before.

It’s the same with meditation. You can take the knowledge and skills you’ve already acquired, apply them to InnaPeace. Experienced meditators report that they are able to go even deeper with InnaPeace, so the results they’re looking to achieve come faster.

All you’re really doing is refreshing the “beginner mind” where you are open to new things. This is essential to continued growth! Your mind isn’t going to revert back to its old ways. You are building on the foundation you’ve laid in your previous meditation practice, just like in the martial arts example.
